These are movies in DVD, HD-DVD, or Blu-ray format, Books, or CDs that I own. Friends and family are welcome to borrow items from my collection so long as they abide by a few rules:
- If you break it, scratch it, or damage the item or the case or slip cover in any way, or lose it, you must immedately pay for a new or better replacement.
- Treat any items you borrow better than you treat your own.
- Never leave a movie item in your player with the power on when you are not in front of your television watching the movie.
- When you remove the move from the player, please immediately put it back in its proper case (not another case).
- Please don't put a different movie in the case while the movie is in your player. It's too easy to accidentally forget and return the movie with the wrong movie in the case. Remember, if you lose it, you bought it (and some of my movies are no longer produced, which means you could end up paying a LOT to buy a replacement on the aftermarket).
- Keep the case and movie (or book, or CD) out of reach of young children.
- Don't allow kids to handle the movie (or CD) or its case without supervision.
- Make sure that any children or adults who must handle the disc do so carefully, only touching the edges, never the surfaces.
- Remember, the movie includes not only the disc, but the case and all extras or literature inside, including any booklets, inserts, etc. Keep all of them in pristine shape (i.e. don't bend, fold, etc.).
- Never set the movie or case (or related materials) on the floor. Never. Just don't do it! Likewise, keep them away from food and beverages.
- Please return the movie to me as soon as convenient once you have watched the movie, so that others can have the chance to watch the movie if they wish.
- Please don't keep any one particular movie out longer than two weeks, unless you make special arrangements with me.
- Do not lend any of my movies to anyone else. If someone else wants to borrow one of my movies that you happen to have, ask them to contact me for permission. You are responsible for replacing lost or damaged movies you borrow. If you borrow an item from me then allow someone else to take it, then I consider that item offically "lost" and you get to buy me a brand-spanking new one immediately. Isn't that fun?
- Any item that must be replaced will be replaced with with new item of equal or better value, or in the case of an item that is no longer being produced, by the highest-quality/best-condition item of the same title and features (or superior features) that can be found, even if the cost is extremely high (and some rare movies can sometimes cost in the triple-digits). When obtaining a replacement, I will make the purchase and you will pay me the replacement costs (including any shipping and handling), unless you and I agree otherwise in advance.
- If you don't like the rules, there are plenty of video rental places around.
Yes, I do sound a little possessive. If I don't then who will? It's natural human tendancy to allow little things that belong to other people go by the wayside. In order to allow my collection to be of maximum benefit to myself and those around me, I think these rules are reasonable and fair. Try getting a better deal from a video rental store!
